Spectacular and amplitude holds and elements of combat SAMBO, as well as practical lessons where everyone can taste some SAMBO, get basic self-protection classes, learn elementary holds - this will be a contribution of the FIAS in the III Games of Friendship.
For the FIAS, it is one of many social projects. It is such projects that the IOC, the EOC and other international organizations pay close attention to as sports that can and should be an instrument helping the modern world become more harmonious and tolerant.
SAMBO today has all the possibilities to successfully participate in such projects. The FIAS site at the III Games of Friendship starting its work in three days is a clear evidence of the same.
The Great Lakes of Africa
The problems of refugees in Africa are linked to destabilization of political regimes in some countries of the continent, first of all in the Central Africa. The most typical conflict zone in Africa is the region of the Great Lakes of Africa Here one can still feel the impact of the Civil War of 1998-2003 in the Democratic Republic of Congo and of genocide in Rwanda (1994).
The military conflict in Congo has been officially recognized as the most bloody military conflict after the WWII. The conflict has involved the neighboring Angola, Burundi, Uganda, and Rwanda. The toll (only official data) was minimum 2 million victims, total victims in 50 African conflicts for forty years amounted after getting the independence to more than 5 million.
Continual renewals of military actions in the western provinces of the DRC provoke new humanitarian disasters.
The problem of refugees today, as well as other most important problems of the humankind, could not be solved by no single nation, by no single country. It requires joint centralized and creative efforts of all the world community, of all the humankind, of the people of the Earth, of concentration of their willingness, of their intellect and will.
